Garry brings more than 10 years of experience across the community services sector. Born and raised on a wheat and sheep farm in WA’s Wheatbelt, he later spent over 25 years in Melbourne, including a long career with Virgin Blue/Virgin Australia. His aviation career took him from domestic and international flying into the Melbourne Management Team, building strong skills in communication, leadership and working with people from all walks of life.
Garry’s move into community services was inspired by seeing people close to him experience illness and ageing without the support and dignity they deserved. Since then, he has worked across aged care and disability as a Carer, Support Worker, trainer and in Learning and Development.
His experience also includes managing a Supported Independent Living (SIL) home for four non-verbal participants with complex support needs, including Autism and behaviours of concern. This strengthened his passion for person-centred support, collaboration and recognising the individual behind the support needs.
Known for embracing diversity and thinking “outside the box,” Garry enjoys finding practical, individualised solutions and building genuine relationships where people feel heard, respected and empowered.
Outside of work, Garry enjoys hiking and going to the park with his dog Elsie.
